Sobia Shaikh stays close to her morals even with great success:

Sobia Shaikh is undoubtedly one of the most elegant women in San Francisco. This effortlessly glamorous woman is a mother of two and is a former model, advertising associate, and handbag designer. These days, she’s enjoying the luxury of being a stay at home to her 16-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. Shaikh also gives back to the community—she’s a huge supporter of Compass Family Services and has been the co-chair of their annual spring benefit for the past three years. In her free time, she likes to travel with her family, they recently went to the Bahamas and try out new cuisines and fashion styles. To get to know more about this Pakistani beauty, we asked her about her life.

She was born in one of her forever favourite cities in the world—Karachi in Pakistan, where all her family resides to date. Her husband, Nadir moved to San Francisco in July 1997, exactly three months after getting married in their home town Karachi. They moved from Nob Hill to Lower Pacific Heights to Cow Hollow, where they lived for 10 years. In July 2016 they moved to their new place in Presidio Heights.

Her previous venture, ISLY Handbags was closed after a period of exhaustion faced by Sobia. It was not an easy decision at the time, she implies, but looking back at it, definitely the right one. She has two teenagers and works automatically took a back seat when she decided to focus on them rather than her career. She loves cooking so she enjoys making meals for the family every night. They are also putting the finishing touches on their home. She says, “For the last three years, I’ve co-chaired, with a girlfriend, the annual spring benefit for Compass Family Services and since the event is in a few weeks (shameless plug: it’s April 5th at the Bentley Reserve), these days we’re finalizing all the details”.

She loves food; hence we took the opportunity of asking her some of her favourites, “There are so many wonderful choices, Kokkari for their divine food and cosy ambience, I especially live for their taramosalata and moussaka.” Sobia loves to eat out and compliments her local restaurants and cafes for satisfying all her foodie needs.

At the end of the day, even with such great success as a fashion blogger and influencer, Sobia A Shaikh remains in touch with where she comes from and who all have helped her get there. Being humble has been her cham and Sobia hopes she always remembers this.
